For the last six years Gordon has been researching about the way Christian enterprises such as congregations, mission agencies, para-church groups, and faith-based care organizations can improve their effectiveness through the appropriate use of strategy. The concept of “Strategic Discernment” is the outcome of this study.
Gordon worked for over 30 years in freelance design and marketing consulting with Australian
evangelical missions and churches. For six years he was international Media Director of OMF International. He also served on a number of Boards and Councils. As well as being active in a range of strategic matters, Gordon has been involved in initiating and coordinating Integrated Communications and Marketing Projects, Book and Magazine Publishing, Website and Video production, IT Management & Development and other key aspects of enterprise management.
Born in China, Gordon studied Print Management at the London College of Printing. He emigrated to Melbourne in 1965, where further studies in Theology (Ridley College), Visual Communication and Communication Psychology (Melbourne State College) were applied during 25 years of running Christian Media, a Communications Design Agency serving Christian organizations. During the past 40 years he has had the privilege of working with congregations, para-church groups, missions, training colleges and denominational departments of most Protestant traditions.
